Dental Insurance Basics

Every dental insurance policy is a unique contract between a dental patient, their employer, and an insurer. Because benefit plans are so unique, we’ll need to review your specific plan before providing estimated out of pocket treatment costs. Our team works with dental insurance plans on a daily basis, and we can ensure you receive the maximum coverage for your treatments. Most dental insurance plans provide the following coverage:

• Preventive care is typically covered between 80 and 100%
• Basic Restorative services receive 50 to 80% coverage
• Orthodontics (when elected by your employer and/or your plan) can receive 50 to 75% coverage
• Dental implants are not typically covered
• Cosmetic dentistry is not typically covered

In-Network VS Out of Network Coverage

We are happy to process and file our patients’ dental insurance claims for the majority of benefit plans. We are also an in-network provider for Delta Dental and BlueCross Blue Shield benefit plans. As an in-network dental office, we have agreements with your insurer to charge the set fees for specific dental services as outlined by your benefit plan. Because we have these existing agreements with your provider, you will only have to cover the out of pocket treatment percentage for any services we provide. Out of network dental office may charge slightly higher fees, and you will need to pay for the difference in pricing as well as the out of pocket percentage of treatment. In most cases, this difference in pricing is negligible, and we do our utmost to ensure our patients receive the maximum coverage for any treatment they need whether or not we’re in-network with their dental plan.
